It’s a long drive from Chicago to northern Wisconsin.
We broke up the drive with a couple of stops, and this was the most interesting.
The Wisconsin Concrete Park is a sculpture park located along Highway 13 near Phillips, Wisconsin. The park includes over 200 folk art sculptures built with concrete and decorated with glass bottles and other found objects.
“This is amazing stuff; so many things to see!” — Milo, age 7
We spent our first night in Washburn with good friends and enjoyed a delicious dinner after a long day on the road.
I walked down to the bay the next morning and then met up with the gang later for a tour of Jeremy and Jenny’s garden.
We had lunch, and Milo got a lesson in local disasters on the frozen bay from an old book at the café.
Later that afternoon, we drove on to the ferry and headed over to Madeline Island for a couple nights of camping.
“It was my first time riding the ferry. It was very fun.” — Milo
On our second day on the island, we explored another area that was entirely different from the beach area near our campsite.
